Update Google Backup And Sync

Since Google Backup and Sync wasn't working when I initially started this thread, I decided to try out iCloud Drive as a temporary solution. However, after using it all week, I actually like it quite a bit: it's super simple to use, seems to be quick to sync, and it does everything I need it to do. The folders you selected for Backup and Sync will show up in a new Computers folder on Google Drive. You'll see any computers on which you have Backup and Sync running listed in this folder.

  1. Download Google Backup and Sync. Backup and Sync is an app for Mac and PC that backs up files and photos safely in Google Drive and Google Photos, so they're no longer trapped on your computer.

NOTE: In some cases when updating Google Photos Backup to Build 239 or above, the installer thinks you have already updated to the latest version and will not reinstall the update. The Google Photos Backup installer just quits silently when you try to update. If that happens, follow these steps:
  • Get the latest Google Photos Backup version from here:
    https://photos.google.com/apps
  • Try installing the app. If it just quits silently and is not the latest version in 'About,' do the following steps:
    • Start the Windows registry editor:
      • One way is to hold down the Windows key and hit the R key on the keyboard
      • In the Run box that opens, type: Regedit, then click the OK button.
    • In the left column, navigate to ComputerHKEY_CURRENT_USERSoftwareGoogleGoogle Photos Backup and find the REG_SZ key 'Installed Version'
    • Either delete the Installed Version key or change the last number to a smaller number.
For instance if it is 239, change it to 238.
    • Exit the Registry editor.
    • Google Photo Backup should now reinstall correctly.

New updates are being added at the bottom of this story……

Original story (published on November 30, 2020) follows:

Google Drive Backup & Sync users seem to be having a really hard time using the app after the Big Sur update. https://coolgfile741.weebly.com/apple-magic-keyboard-bluetooth-windows-10.html. Previously, reports stated that the file stream wasn't working, and now there's the 'Error: 8B227910' issue.

As a result, there have been plenty of complaints about the same on Google Drive and MacRumors forums, as well as Reddit.

When I open/config my account in the Backup and Sync app, I get the error: 'something went wrong. Error: 8B227910. Detach your account and try again'. For the last hour or so I've been Googling this issue, but all I can find so far is that there were some issues with Google Backup and Sync and Big Sur, but those issues were resolved in the latest beta's.

Has anyone been able to get Google Backup and Sync to work on an M1 Mac? Mountain lion os x not downloading. I cannot get through the setup/installation process.

As apparent from the above complaints, users facing this issue report that upon trying to configure their Google account in the Backup and Sync app, they get a popup saying 'Something went wrong. Error: 8B227910. Detach your account and try again'.

Following this, the app may crash as well. Adobe premiere cc crack for mac. Strangely enough, the issue seems limited to the latest MacBooks that ship with Apple's new M1 chip alone.

Now, the previous MacBooks shipped with Intel chips which made use of the x64/x86 CPU architecture. However, the M1 makes use of the mobile ARM architecture.

It could be quite possible that the app just isn't optimized for the new architecture/environment. This statement can be backed up by a user's claim wherein they've said that Google Drive is not fully supported in macOS Big Sur.

Spoke to Google Support. It's only supported up until macOS 10.16. It's not supported yet with macOS 11 or above (Big Sur).

Take the claim with a pinch of salt though, as we were unable to verify if it's true.
